2008 McKenzie River Trail Run
Race Start — The run starts at Carmen Reservoir at 7:30 AM (6:30 for early starters) and finishes across the Highway from the McKenzie Ranger Station. No one planning to run faster than 6:30 should start early; early starters finishing faster than 6:30 will receive 6:30 as their official time. Please let us know if you are an early starter at packet pick up.
Packet Pick Up — At Takodas Restaurant in McKenzie Bridge (next to Harbick's Country Store) 5-8 PM Friday Sept 5 and at the start starting at 6 AM Saturday.
Parking and Shuttle — The start is about 17 miles east of the finish No shuttle is provided. Self arranged car pools, shuttles, and hitch hiking have worked well over the past 20 years and will remain the way to get back and forth. If you are driving to the start, please pull into the Ranger Station and see if anyone needs a ride. Parking at the Ranger Station is at the West (right) side of the building only. Parking is also available at the start area.
Aid Stations — Water, half-strength Gatorade and cola at all stations. Fruit, pretzels, cookies, and other energy boosters will be available. The cross-country team and local volunteers will again be manning the stations. Drop bag boxes will be available at the start for Carmen (#2) and Deer Creek (#4) and the finish. If you must drop out, please inform someone at the nearest aid station.
Trail Markings — We are using pink surveyor flags again this year. All junctions will be signed.
Lunch, Awards, and Showers — You will be able to shower at St Benedict Lodge after your run (Noon-3:00), then join us at the Community Center for lunch and awards. Lunch will be from Noon to 3:30 with the awards at 2:45. We will have a few drawing prizes as well. Awards go to the top three open finishers (men & women), plus the top finisher in each age group (39 & under, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & over). Open winners (1st, 2nd or 3rd) will not be considered for age group awards. If you finish second to an open ÒwinnerÓ (in your age group), then you will receive your age group award.
